As I reflect on the past year, I am overwhelmed with gratitude for your steadfast support. Never would I have imagined a year like this—one marked by unexpected challenges but also incredible acts of compassion and solidarity.
This year we faced a very public loss of funding for our emergency shelters, a critical blow to our mission of serving those experiencing homelessness. We struggled through the ongoing housing crisis, which was often the barrier between our clients in shelter and permanent housing, that next chapter of their lives that we believe every human being deserves. We also weathered several disasters, some of which barely registered on the broader radar but left lives devastated in their wake.

The children learned the “Five Finger Catechism” taught to St. Mother Teresa of Calcutta by her mother. This lesson illustrates Matthew 25 with each finger representing a word: You. Did. It. To. Me.

Catholic Charities of Acadiana is proud to announce the renovation of the future home of St. Michael Center for Veterans. A project dedicated to supporting veterans experiencing homelessness on their path to stability, this 7,500-square-foot facility will soon provide 16 single-occupancy rooms with en suite bathrooms and workspaces designed to meet VA standards for privacy and dignity in non-congregate transitional housing.
