With Hearts Full of Thanksgiving Our Lady of Fatima Littles Spread Kindness to St. Joseph Diner and St. Joseph Shelter Clients

Our Lady of Fatima Catholic School recently hosted a local author, Jenn Kirkley, who presented her book Willard DoGooder and His Trail of Friends. Through this book, the school’s Pre-K, Kindergarten, and 1st Grade students learned that in the face of differences they should “Name the good. Find the difference. Move on with kindness.”

To allow the children to respond to the story, each was invited to place a handprint, in bright Fall colors, on two large “Happy Thanksgiving” banner that will be displayed at St. Joseph Diner and another for St. Joseph Shelter. The children learned the “Five Finger Catechism” taught to St. Mother Teresa of Calcutta by her mother. This lesson illustrates Matthew 25 with each finger representing a word: You. Did. It. To. Me.

It always surprises me how children can often come up with the simplest and most profound ways to love others!

Thank you for bringing joy to those experiencing homelessness and hunger this Thanksgiving, Our Lady of Fatima Littles!
