In response to the outpouring of local concern for hurricane survivors in Florida, Catholic Charities of Acadiana is urging those who want to assist to donate directly to Catholic Charities USA.

Chief of External Affairs, Ben Broussard, sat down with Freedom 106.7 to discuss disaster response and why it fits within the services of Catholic Charities of Acadiana. They discussed the often complex nature of serving during disaster, the importance of being prepared as an organization, and how the community can be a part of it. Listen here:

St. Teresa of Calcutta famously said, “Small things, done in great love, bring joy.” At St. Thomas More Catholic High School, Canstruction is one such example. A school-wide service project, Canstruction asks students to collect non-perishable food items for Catholic Charities of Acadiana.

We met Jillian at her wood frame home, sporting an older metal corrugated roof. We found her to be a really sweet yet quiet lady that works 7 days a week with a local healthcare outfit. Behind her smile is a grim reality. She lives under an ever present feeling of concern.
