5 ways to support us this summer
Summer is officially in swing, and we’ve got five concrete ways for you to support the programs of Catholic Charities of Acadiana as we care for those who are experiencing hunger, homelessness, and poverty in our community.
1. Volunteer with us at FoodNet Food Bank
Our current volunteer opportunity includes sorting non-perishable food items and assembling food bags at FoodNet Food Bank. FoodNet assembles and distributes approximately 650 supplemental bags of food to our neighbors who are experiencing hunger per week. This is a great family service opportunity!

2. Start a new, recurring monthly donation to support our work
Did you know that the vast majority of Catholic Charities of Acadiana’s programs are 100% donor funded? A monthly recurring gift of any amount makes a significant and collective impact on our work, ensuring that we can best address our clients in their time of crisis. You can even designate your donation to go to the Catholic Charities of Acadiana program that is most meaningful to you.
3. Shop our Amazon Wishlist and help us with essential things
We rely on the community to support us by donating the items we need most. With the money that we save on supplies, we are able to focus on providing essential services to the most vulnerable.
We have created a few Amazon wishlists with our current needs in key programs. This way, items can conveniently be sent directly to us and utilized through our services.
4. Shop local & give local for FoodNet Food Bank
Because of the increased amount of food insecurity in Acadiana, FoodNet Food Bank is purchasing thousands of dollars worth of food per week. You can help to offset the cost of helping our neighbors by picking up staple food items at these local grocery stores and dropping them in the collection baskets.

5. Pray for those that we serve
For almost 50 years, Catholic Charities of Acadiana has been a safe haven for our neighbors who are experiencing homelessness, hunger, and poverty. Our phones ring hundreds of times per day from our neighbors who are in a situational crisis and have no one else to turn. Families who are facing the prospect of homelessness. The pregnant woman who is experiencing homelessness and is seeking the safety of shelter. Families who are burdened by an inability to put food on the table. We invite you to pray for those that we serve, that their essential human needs would be met with mercy and compassion.
