The UL Greek Communities Shine in Service in Catholic Charities of Acadiana’s Programs

The University of Lafayette’s Greek community, both fraternities and sororities, have stepped forward over the last several years with increasing, intentional engagement in the work of Catholic Charities of Acadiana, whose main campus is so near to their stopping grounds.

On UL’s website it states that “Fraternities and sororities encourage excellence in academics, social skills, leadership, community service and personal growth.” These priorities have shone so brightly in recent years on our campuses! St. Joseph Diner, FoodNet Food Bank, special events and special projects have all benefited from the youth, vibrancy, strength and community present in these groups. Phi Mu, has come several times in full pink to serve at SJD. Sigma Nu and Sigma Chi have come with teamwork and strength to help with moving and event set up for Crossroads Collective, FoodNet Food Bank, and Donations Room Migration. Sharing Spirits this past year was  enlivened by the support of Kappa Delta and Alpha Delta Pi. Of particular note is the leadership shown by many Community Service Chairs who have been willing to sit down for a cup of coffee to chat about how they can include Catholic Charities of Acadiana in their plans for upcoming semesters. We are so grateful to have those in the Greek community join us, and look forward to another great year together serving our neighbors in need.

Any Greek Organization looking to join in the work of Catholic Charities of Acadiana, please contact Community Engagement Coordinator, Sarah Baquet, at 337-235-4972 ext. 1222 or sarahb@catholiccharitiesacadiana.org to get connected!
