Catholic Charities of Acadiana Offers Professional Development to High School Teachers

In preparation for a whole-school service learning day taking place in November, St. Thomas More leadership invited Catholic Charities of Acadiana to present to staff on the “why” behind our dedicated service to the poor and vulnerable. Through presenting the workshop entitled Thy Kingdom Come, Thy Will Be Done on Earth as it is in Heaven: Foundations for an Authentic Understanding of Catholic Social Doctrine, Sarah Baquet shared what Catholic Social Doctrine is, what it is not, it’s basic themes and principles as well as stories and practical examples of Catholic Social Doctrine being lived out in the world. Each staff member received professional development credit and basic theological background on what the Catholic Church believes and teaches in this often mis-understood and mis-represented area.
