Through our three food and nutrition programs - St. Joseph Diner, FoodNet Food Bank, and our Diner Mobile program - Catholic Charities of Acadiana is addressing the growing issue of hunger throughout the 8 Parishes that encompass Acadiana. St. Joseph Diner has served the hungry since 1983, and through our new Diner Mobile program, we are able to take food prepared by volunteers at St. Joseph Diner and deliver it to distribution points in the more rural parts of Acadiana, addressing underserved pockets of food insecurity. A founding donation from Love Our Community earlier this year included three new Ram ProMaster vans, each modified to include a serving window that will allow St. Joseph Diner-prepared food to be efficiently served via a mobile setting. Between St. Joseph Diner and the Diner Mobiles, Catholic Charities of Acadiana is producing and distributing upward of 15,000 meals per week.

FoodNet Food Bank became a program of Catholic Charities of Acadiana in 2019, and has since been one of our busiest programs. FoodNet Food Bank provides supplemental non-perishable food boxes for families and individuals who are experiencing food insecurity. Averaging 14 new clients per week throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, FoodNet Food Bank distributes almost 400 food bags per week, helping families who are in a financial or situational crisis. FoodNet Food Bank also partners with rural parish social ministry food pantries throughout the Diocese of Lafayette, helping them to serve their clients in their time of need.
