Diocese of Lafayette Seminarians Visit CSA

In May 2014, twenty-five seminarians from the Diocese of Lafayette toured our campus, spending time learning about our programs, our methods, and most importantly, the people we serve. “I found it inspiring to witness the tremendous amount of love and energy Catholic Services of Acadiana puts forth to provide food, shelter, and many other forms of support to those less fortunate in the Acadiana area every day. It personally challenged me to get more involved with Catholic Services of Acadiana (CSA) by informing others of the services they provide and being more aware of those in need in our local communities,” said Blake Dubroc, Diocese of Lafayette Seminarian.

The presence of the clergy on our campus has always been valued and we are excited to begin forming relationships with future priests of our Diocese. Fr. Kevin Bordelon, Director of Vocations and Seminarians, summed up their visit, “Our seminarians experience and participate in outreach ministries around their respective seminaries (Covington, New Orleans, Baltimore, Milwaukee, Washington, DC, and Rome).  This is good and necessary. However, it often leaves them without knowledge of, or experience with, the good work taking place here in Lafayette. The morning of orientation at Catholic Services of Acadiana helped fill in that gap in their pastoral formation.  The seminarians were universally impressed with the operations of CSA and look forward to supporting their efforts as priests.”
