Great ideas, big and small

I love ideas. I always have.

In my tenure here at Catholic Charities of Acadiana, I’ve seen generosity in so many ways. Everyday generosity. Small gestures with huge impact. People who give on a regular basis, both volunteer time and of their treasures. It’s all so valuable to the overall mission of what we do here, every deposit that builds this mission and transforms those who give and those we serve.

Here’s a short story about something you don’t see everyday. Thanks to an anonymous donor, Super 1 Foods pulled two 18-wheelers up to FoodNet Food Bank a few weeks back with over $40,000 worth of donated shelf stable food. In a time of great uncertainty and growing need for food assistance, this act of generosity was right on time and an answer to prayer. Fact is, there are still so many South Louisiana families and individuals who are making the daily decision between paying bills and putting food on the table, often for the very first time in their lives.

With this generous donation, we will be able to assist well over 1,200 individuals and families with supplemental food assistance, all right here in Acadiana. This is good news indeed.

You can help Catholic Charities of Acadiana serve those who are most vulnerable by making a one time or recurring gift here. Also know that your time is so precious and valuable to us - Consider volunteering at St. Joseph Diner by clicking here.
