OUR HISTORY

Foodnet Food Bank of Lafayette, La, a non-profit food bank serving Lafayette Parish, was established in October 1987. The food distributed by FoodNet is donated by the community. There are three major food drives that channel food to FoodNet. These food drives are The Letter Carrier's hosted the second week in May, The Rotary Election Day Food Drive (hosted on major elections, the four Rotary Clubs of Lafayette collect donations for FoodNet at the polling places) and the KLFY News 10 FoodNet "Food for Families" Food Drive hosted in December annually. Numerous, schools, corporations, organizations, and individuals also hold independent food drives for FoodNet throughout the year.Marcelle Citron, Founder of FoodNet

FoodNet operates a Community Market Basket program in which collection baskets are placed in participating local supermarkets.

Since its inception, FoodNet has been a member agency of the United Way of Acadiana.
