Data Driven Decisions

Hidden among the many service areas of CSA is our Homeless Management Information Systems (HMIS) office. Partially funded by a grant from the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), the three employees of this office maintain a database that records demographic information about clients, stores notes from the case managers, and tracks services provided, all in a collaborative effort of CSA, other non-profit agencies, and funders in the Acadiana region.

Responsible Giving

Acadiana is a compassionate community and many give money to people panhandling because they want to help. However, giving money to people who are panhandling can discourage them from seeking the services they may truly need. Additionally, many people who are panhandling go unidentified by our local homeless service organizations because they are not seeking help, they may not know about available resources, or they may not be in need
